SONG ABOUT YOU
ALBUM: A Real Good Kid
ARTIST: Mike Posner
PRODUCER: Ricky Reed
"And the worst type of sadness you could have Is when you miss somethin' that doesn't miss you back"
"A Real Good Kid" is both what I promised I was this past year, and what I was hoping to get this Christmas. Unfortunately for you and me, we're still going to have to wait a couple of weeks until Mike Posner's new album drops (January, 18th).
This post is probably long overdue, but I've been obsessing over this track since it came out in September of last year. "Song About You" is nothing you would expect and everything you ever hoped for. You won't need more than ten seconds, just listening to the first few notes, to realize you've already fallen in love with that distinctive, soul-touching guitar riff, courtesy of legendary songwriter Dan Wilson (Someone Like You).
Lyrically, the song is not flashy, but that doesn't make it simple. Posner reflect on his recent heartbreak, but mostly trying and failing to not deal with it. It's a song about needing a break from yourself and those things that make you want to change, something we can all relate to, no matter who you are. And his raspy voice, as per usual, honest and dynamic, couldn't be a better fit for this anthem.
Check him out!
